How exactly does one measure global co2 and compare it to 800,000 past year levels? Tree rings, ice core samples, sedimentary rocks, peat bog samples?

“Tree rings, ice core samples, sedimentary rocks, peat bog samples?”
You mean they have adequate samples from every region for every one of the last 800,000 years?
With that kind of info you’d think they’d be better at predicting things like tsunamis, ice caps, and the next sightings of Bigfoot and Nessie.

Yep, count those 800,000 tree rings.

Only if one can find any of those that were around 800,000 years ago.........

Actually, they found cave drawings that recorded the co2 levels and the cause of the elevated levels. They declared that dinosaur flatulence was a main cause.
The Neanderthals were advanced way before their time.
I got this from a very reliable source.
But, don't take my word for it.

Tree rings, ice core samples, sedimentary rocks, peat bog samples? Those are all proxy measurements. You can't compare between levels directly measured, and levels calculated through some proxy method without thoroughly validating the method.
