I assume the same way google does with Chrome. Collecting and selling your browsing habits.

How does getting rid of something thats free hurt them? How did blocking their free browser (which had already been downloaded and installed) from using OKcupid hurt them? That was the only site that I've read about that blocked their browser and it was for about a day.
