The only conceivable justification for this would be if there was evidence he discriminated against gays at work at Mozilla such as salary or promotion issues. There is no such evidence.
This is very bad for liberty, specifically the freedom to hold an unpopular opinion and support those who agree with that opinion.
I am deeply disturbed by the unfortunate blow against freedom of speech. Which, by the way is a constitutional right. Unlike, say, marriage.

A company has a right to fire anyone for any reason, or atleast it should have that right. The employee has a right to find a different job. Customers have a right to boycott. I do not see how this is different than a religious school throwing out a homosexual teacher. The system works.
