If the entire Western US was buried in ash the Gia worshiping, greenie government would make it a national park and tell us we could not replant it so they could study how nature recovers on its own. That is what they did after Mt. St. Helens blew.

I think it's more likely that the Midwest and eastern U.S. would catch the most ash. The jet stream moves the air west-to-east. The west coast could actually end up without much damage.
