I read a story about an Ontario female doctored who hired her then-husband to be her full-time anesthesiologist. She paid him about three times over what the market rate for anesthesiologists typically make and paid him this for a couple of years.
After this, she choose to divorce him and the court ordered child support at a level of what he was earning, despite ample evidence that Ontario anesthesiologists do not make what he was making, but to pay what he was ordered to it would take his entire paycheque and more. The judge threatened fines and jail time if he did not comply.
He eventually committed suicide through asphyxiation.
I’ve personally seen this happen. The guy committed suicide in the parking lot and when the judge was notified he just shrugged his shoulders and carried on screwing the next guy in line.
