I agree. I was just a kid when it happened but talking to my parents about it as an adult, they said they and most every one they knew thought he was responsible. I grew up hearing it rehashed over and over and the more you heard, the more it became obvious of a government cover up. For example, if the government wasn’t involved, why was all the evidence locked up until a year in the future when they knew everyone involved would be dead?
That LBJ was responsible for the assassination was the firm opinion of a former Dallas County deputy sheriff I was working with in 1985 who had been on duty Nov. 22, 1963. His absolute confidence in that opinion has always stuck with me. His attitude was “Well, everybody in the department knew but were smart enough to keep their mouths shut”. There are as many plausible suspects to mull over, including Oswald as a lone Marine Corps trained marksman turned Communist, as in a whodunit board game. Is it possible and believable that LBJ could have been involved? Sure.
My parents always thought it was Johnson too. They thought he had the most to gain and had the organization in TX to do it.
