Your post does help, I just talked to my husband and someone from the dealership told him I must have driven over something that cut the tread all the way across. I promise you I saw nothing in the road. All I know is I was driving about 30 mph and I heard a loud “pop”, ten seconds later my “Low Tire Pressure” light came on. When I got out to look I saw my back passenger tire going flat. My husband has asked for the tire but they are stonewalling on giving it to him. BTW, it’s a Ford Dealership, not a tire one.
Miss Edie, Find a tire dealer you can trust. I have used the same shop, Flynn Tire, 30+ years. Maybe I pay a little more there, but I trust them(Kelly and Goodyear tires plus other brands.) Forget about that Ford dealer and move on.
That sucks:
You have a (alleged) dishonest Ford Dealership Service Dept.
I recommend Ford Corporate Customer Service Directly:

If I’m correct, they may be violating at a minimum Ford’s own policies on that, plus possibly a State law or 2, depending on your State, by not providing you the tire to justify the ‘repair’ or ‘replacement’. ‘Stonewalling’ is a big red flag, obviously. Road debris happens; sometimes we see it, usually we don’t.
Good luck.
