Indeed. I believe the "Westboro Baptist Church" may be a false-flag operation--sort of like the Monarchist Union of Central Russia, a supposed anti-Communist resistance organization in the Soviet Union during the 1920's that was actually run by the Soviet secret police.

That is not exactly true; they have and still continue to do that. And FWIW the first time the WBC came to the national spot light was over their picketing of the funeral of Matthew Sheppard.
But by protesting or even threatening to protest and then not showing up at soldier’s funerals or the funerals of others like the kids who died at Sandy Hook, the Nickel Mines Amish school shooting victims or at the funerals of the children who died in the Oklahoma tornado outbreak last year, that get’s them the max amount of outrage and therefore of the press they seek.
