What better way to take liability of Boeing and Malaysian authorities out of the equation than to blame it on a rogue pilot.. Hey it is possible but no doubt that there are incentives to favor that outcome.

Malaysian authorities out of the equation

Actually a rogue pilot under the employ of Malaysian Airlines puts the Malaysian authorities right in the middle of the equation.

They would love for this to be mechanical error, or a fire, or for the plane to show up on a mullah's parking lot in Pakistan.

This scenario is going to cost them and their insurance carriers dearly.

With gazillions of dollars at stake wouldn’t it make sense for Boeing and the Malayans to pay a P.R. company to plant stories like this? While I’m not a conspiratorial mind, I’ve dealt with enough high level corporate attorneys to know that nothing gets overlooked in the defense game.

Speculation about the pilot being to blame is not proof of it. SO ... “if” he was to blame, he was QUITE SMART to dump the plane here so no one could prove it, and all benefits would be payable.
