It would appear to be a bit deeper than expected. Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity has led to huge popularity, especially in South Sudan and Australia where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle.

no way without frying both the simple electrical and any fancy electronics.(I assume it has none of those.)
had a clamped on outboard hop off a transom held on by wires and steering cables. got towed to shallow water but alas the main +(red) wired fried and broke. towed it home replaced the wire and it started right up ran it for a good long time to blow out any water in the engine....
took it out later that day and cruised all over with it.
but electrical will get you and no intake snorkel ever invented will prevent that...
I’ve been almost as deep (water over the hood) in a Land Rover Defender 200TDI.
Not by choice, mind you. We had a guy with a broken leg that had to get back to civilization.
Windshield wipers were a nice touch.

I think that’s still cheaper than the comparably equipped model in Australia. My relatives in Australia have a LC and it’s diesel-powered w/o many of the North American version’s luxuries.
There is also the Prado, almost identical to the Lexus GX, which is also called a Land Cruiser in some countries. The Prado, Lexus GX and 4Runner are built on the same platform.
I'm surprised you didn't damage the engine due to hydrolocking.
That Jeep in the middle of nowhere show that only lasted two episodes last year had a deep water crossing that was deeper than the engine.
The tech guy showed how it was done with some rubber, tape and some kind of silicon grease.
Basically cover every crack and its only good for a short crossing like in the clip.
Yet the 97 4Runner Limit still looks better than the 2014 Land Cruiser and performs extremely well off or on road.
I stayed on LBI for Sandy way too long. My wrangler had water over the hood but miraculously plowed through. Not sure what I would have done if it stalled. Even the first responders were gone.
The title of the video is misleading. The water was just as deep as expected, since the snorkel never goes below the water.
He told me to find a 2002-2007 Land cruiser with less than 100k miles. I'd save a ton of money and it is just as good off road with more after market parts that an FJ Cruiser.
Any RKIs on where to start looking?! He said to beware of LandCruisers from yankee land and oceanfronts due to salt.

That is probably an HJ (diesel) rather than an FJ (Petrol) Land Cruiser.
We had both a Diesel Isuzu Trooper and a Diesel Daihatsu 4x4 get sunk in various rivers in Western Kenya. Electrical systems worked just fine after we dried them out. Same for a little 800cc Suzuki jeep (petrol engine) that was in deep enough to be floated downstream a ways.
The old M-151 military jeeps had fording kits with snorkels, extended tailpipes and distributor seals. You had to disconnect the fan belt first, otherwise the fan blades would be pulled into the radiator by the more dense water, chewing up the radiator.
