It's already happening in the Restaurant industry. The local Chili's replaced all wait-staff with devices on each table for ordering and paying for one's meal. The staff that remains are kitchen for food preparation, a greeter, bartender, and a handful of "servers" who deliver meals from the kitchen, refill bar drinks when ordered and refill coffee, soda and water.

From the customer POV, you no longer have a waiter/waitress interrupting your meal every 10 minutes asking "how's everything tasting today?" but you do wait a little longer for coffee/soda/water refills. Bar service on the other hand seems faster. ;-)

The touch screen ordering has been around for over a decade. It’s more accurate and can use different languages. It only required a person to make the sandwich, and we are at the point where that can now be done when it becomes economically feasible. And the democrats are hastening that time by raising the human cost in a process, thereby cutting jobs for low skilled workers.

Not to worry — a $10/hour or $15/hour minimum wage will bring all those wait-staff jobs back.
