You don’t even need a hanger as canmo does not show up well on downward looking satellite and remember during WW2, the Japanese hid a whole airfield from recon aircraft in the Pacific.

It would be interesting to know if the engine reporting system could be shut down by the flight crew. What if a hijacker just forgot about that system under the stress of the moment and did not recall it until a few hours later?
Be nice to know about the fuel load. They would be consuming more at lower altitudes but a 777 ER is rated at 7700 miles. Wouldn’t think they were fully fueled just to go to Beijing but this is the kind of info being kept from the public by all of the big players.
Your postulation about them maybe losing spatial awreness and flying into the sea seems very plausible. About three weeks after the Eastern Airlines Jumbo flew into the Everglades at night in 72 I talked to a guy who helped retrieve bodies when the crew lost track of their altitude.
