I LOVE it when inauthentic people get called out for their phoniness; it usually freaks them out and they short circuit. I don’t go out of my way to do it, but when the appropriate opportunity arises, it’s fun to see - however, I always hope that the person learns from it. I know that I did when I was 29 and trying to phony it up in front of a client way back when. Was a growing up moment and maybe old Piers grew up a tad.
