get youtube downloader, download the video then watch the video. It is a PIA but at least you can get through a video without pauses.
I’ve been having the same problem.

Firefox and Flash seem to be getting along worse and worse every release. Meanwhile they’re both kind of pigs in the first place. Reduce the pig count use something other Firefox to watch Flash, and pray for the day HTML5 kills Flash.

My brother does that as he lives in a rural area and all he can get is satellite and the download speed just isn’t very good. Good suggestion.

What you didn’t say is what screen resolution you are running.
Too high a resolution and the videos will either studder, lag or cause and error.
I know because my old XP machine did the same thing when I went higher that 1024 x 768 resolution.
And I had 2 gig of ram at the time.
Still lagged.

Agreed. As I understand it, most YouTube vids will play in HTML5 if you have a player. That may be a solution.

Amen. Flash is a leaky ship in a monsoon There is a reason IOS does not support it.

Hi ZC - the one thing I haven’t seen mentioned (so I’ll mention it myself) is what version of flash you have installed. I’ve seen several instances of “stuttering video” - including one on a freshly imaged computer. What I found was an existing install of ver. 11 (something) and a partial install of ver. 12 (something).
I would uninstall whatever you currently have and then reinstall to get the latest version.

Right click in video.
Go to settings.
Set storage to unlimited.I appreciate the advice, but I can't find a "storage" option anywhere.

Hard drive capacity vs available space is something else to check. Defrag.I degrag regularly. It indicates now that defragging is not necessary at this time.
I always leave something I've already tried, don't I?

::Sigh:: Look, folks, I know you're all trying to help and I appreciate it. But you're missing something I said.
YouTube still has periods where it works okay. It's live feeds that don't work at all.
There.
I have RealDownload but I never use it. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, but it won't help with live feeds.

My old computer died last fall and I had to get a new one. It was then that I noticed that videos would play but would be fuzzy until they had played for a minute or so then would suddenly become clear. I can start and stop them, allowing more to load, then start it over and it will all play clear.
I thought it was an issue with the new 'puter. It happens with Youtube vids in particular. PITA.

Okers.
Do you see the settings option on right clicking in the video?
There will be several icons at the bottom of that item.
First from left is display, second is privacy.
Third icon is a folder shaped thing.
That’s where you’ll the local storage option.

Thank you, but I've checked my version numerous times and it's the latest one, I assure you. Maybe I need an older one? They worked better back then.

Right click on a Youtube video, select "settings" from the pop-up menu, uncheck "Enable hardware exceleration", click "Close", restart browser. Helped me. But, keep an eye on it ... I swear it flips itself back!

Yeah, the ‘odd’ resolutions didn’t work very well for me either,.
Now I have a Core i5 with 6gb of ram. And so running 1600x900 is not problem anymore.

Have you tried changing the “Hardware acceleration” setting in Flash?
To: Darksheare
Thanks, Darksheare. It's done now.
I haven't checked it out on a live feed yet, though. I'll do some research tonight. Maybe the one I've been using to test is just a lousy feed.

My resolution is 800 by 600 pixels. I like large letters.
