His balanced diet is the secret to his longevity and health, he claims

The 35th National Masters Athletic Championship held in South India saw an unbelievable record being created.

Dharampal Gujjar cleared 200 meters in 46.74 seconds and won the 400 meters.

Now, if that’s no great task, then the winner is 116 years old, according to a report in NDTV.

Standing 6-ft tall, Gujjar, has participated in several marathons.

If his voter card is to be believed, then he, indeed, is the oldest person alive in the world.

He has not sought funds from the government. His co-workers help him financially to participate in events.

His balanced diet is the secret to his longevity and health, he claims.

I heard he's expected to be drafted ahead of Michael Sam.

“His co-workers...”

I guess having to work until I’m 75 doesn’t seem so bad now.

I’ll take, “This guy is probably not telling the truth, nor is he 116 years old, and is in cahoots with his so-called co-workers, and the story made it into a local new-age rag of a tabloid, as always happens in provincial India anyway” for $1.00, Alex.

My great aunt who died in about 1996 was 115 3/4 years old and in pretty good shape but she couldn’t do this......... I seriously doubt he is 116. My great aunt was the oldest person in the US at that time.

I doubt that he is 116. Does he have his birth certificate, and can it be trusted?

He is not on Wikipedia’s list of verified 100 oldest people, living and dead. My great aunt is there, she is #17.

That’s pretty dangerous, being the oldest person in the U.S. No one seems to live very long in that position.

This story is balderdash. Usain Bolt clocked a 46.74 last year, the same time this supposedly 116-year-old speedster ran. Butch Reynolds of the U.S. ran a 43.29 in 1988 and Michael Johnson of the U.S. ran 43.18 in 1999. To my knowledge, Johnson still holds the world record and Reynolds still has the second-fastest time.
