PITTSBURGH Pittsburgh former police chief Nathan Harper was sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison for conspiring to create an unauthorized slush fund from which he spent more than $30,000 on himself.
U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon handed down the sentence Tuesday morning. She also ordered 61-year-old Harper on Tuesday to repay $31,986 from the fund that he spent on himself.
Target 11 investigator Rick Earle was in the courtroom for the sentencing hearing. Earle reported that Harper made an emotional apology moments before the judge handed down his sentence.
I am a broken man, Harper said. I made a mistake.

He spent a couple hundred of that in a porn shop.

Usually a mistake doesn’t require directing staff to set it up and happen over a period of three years. But like the article says he’s a really nice guy and doting grandfather who “empowered people.”

He has nothing to worry about. The ‘justice’ department will find that he was convicted on account of his race and get him set free.

He didn't divvy up generously enough with the other Democrats in the city. Otherwise, he would've only got probation.

Pittsburgh is the belly of the beast when it comes to political/union corruption. New York may be the heart and Chicago the soul but Pittsburgh is absolutely the belly.

I made a mistake. Sure buddy. Just one. I'm sure if anyone really looked, there would be no other evidence of corruption, bribes, graft, theft, nepotism, etc, during your reign.
I loathe crooked cops.

If only the IRS, the DEA, the bank examiners, in fact the entire lexicon of federal alphabet agencies could learn that you can’t extort money from citizens with armed enforcers, the world would be a better place.

Pittsburg and Philly have some interesting headlines recently.
