Here in Chicago we built the stadium, let the owner use it for free for 30 years and then we own it. How is that a good deal for the taxpayer?

It’s just stealing via legislation. Just because it is ‘legal’ doesn’t mean it’s right.

numerous economic studies have shown that no major sports stadium has produced the total local economoic benefits that everyone was told/promised it would do - none of them

the teams owners and the leagues use political blackmail - “you either help us build the stadium or we’ll move the team, hell we’ll move it to the boondocs” - they operate like gansters in that way

the fact is they will not normally ever move a team to the boondocs, because the networks are not going to pay for showing games with an empty stadium; but they will move the team to whereever they get the biggest bribes - taxpayer money - from

then that city’s officials will become hostage to the political blackmail of either continuing to serve up taxpayer support fot the team, through the years in some fashion, or see them leave THEIR city for “greener” pastures
