I think I’ve written before: the only tattoos I find acceptable are a cross, after the manner of the Copts who use a tattooed cross as an in-your-face witness to their Christian faith against the surrounding Muslim society, and a unit or service branch insignia for a military unit, placed like a unit patch, but on the skin, on men who have been with a unit long enough that they have formed a firm life-long identity as a member of the unit or service branch which will outlast their active and reserve service. (I note such an attachment forms quickly among U.S. Marines.)
