I must confess that I have not. I watch exactly two auto races a year: Daytona and Indianapolis.
I'm sorry that you feel this makes me a terrible person, but all I know is it worked out a lot better back when CBS had the race in the 70s.
I never said/thought or posted that.
Just putting in My $0.02 worth on reasons why they do what they did/do.
Join Us for Phoenix next W.E. and learn about things like Rattlesnake Hill!
Same FR Bat Channel every Race week.
Chode runs the F1 Threads here.
Don't remember ever seeing an NHRA Thread but that stuff happens in 4 seconds so by the time a Post would be completed we would be 2 Runs behind...
There is usually an Indy 500 Thread IIRC.
And try going to a Live Race some time- It puts a whole new perspective on it. 34,400 HP blasting past 30 feet away in 4-5 seconds is quite "enlightening" plus you get the fuel and tyre smells.
on top of that the teams HAVE to get home or to the next race as soon as possible to be able to get the cars cleaned up/repaired in time for next weeks race
it does happen, but it is ungodly expensive on multiple levels and is avoided like the plague
