My aunt died of COPD, after a lot of suffering. She smoked a lot all her life, but didn’t think that was what caused it (couldn’t be her beloved cigs). She was convinced that living through the Dust Bowl in Kansas when she was a child. I think it was probably both. It’s hard to fathom, but in the worst years of the Dust Bowl there were times that she and my mother had to sleep with damp cloths over their mouth and nose to try to keep from inhaling the dust.

My dad smoked unfiltered cigarettes for 40 years then died 39 years later at the age of 91. Luckily it wasn’t lung related.

Come on he had a better life than most people I know. He lived his life the way he wanted. No one lit those for him. If he wasn’t born with pointy ears we wouldn’t have heard of him.
