All I can say is that I believe that God can not be fully understood by mere mortals.

Trying to communicate the complexity and scope of the creation of the universe to a then (relatively speaking) very simple-minded people is best accomplished through very simple language. I believe that “The Great I Am” purposefully inspired biblical writings to be easily communicated to those simple people.

I believe God uses all the leeway he knows *WE* need to get his points across. Whether seven days of creation was actually seven gazillion eons is not the issue to me. The issue is that if God wants us to know exactly what all happend during creation to include the mechanics and physics of it, he will grant us the capacity to understand it. And he may yet. It doesn’t appear God allowed that level of understanding during this debate.

That is how I look at the issue. Imagine simple shepherds and nomads in the Middle East circa 6000 BC trying to understand a book explaining quantum physics, string theory, and organic chemistry. You would have saw a large amount of people with a blank look on their faces. God was smart enough to consider the audience he was communicating with. He did give us the ability to figure out the rest. It has took thousands of years, and it will take thousands of more, but I think he is rooting for us to figure it all out.
