Nope.
I finally watched the “Offensive” ad and it seems to me they are promoting America.
When I tell people how to fix the world my solution always comes down to flooding them with:
Coca Cola/Pepsi
McDonalds
and Mom’s apple pie.
What could be more American? Don’t bag on my Mom either.
It seems to me, in my travels around the globe, the world very much wants to be like us.
In fact, they come here by the droves looking for the American Dream.
“Flame suit on”
Well, I suggest 'the American dream' wasn't built upon Balkanization. But it will die from it.
I agree, wholeheartedly. The ad was clearly meant to celebrate America. They may not have done so in the way I would have chosen to do so -- if I were to design the ad, I probably would have had them sing in English, with whatever accents they have. But, just because I would have gone with a different approach, doesn't make the ad "offensive" or "anti-American."
Foreign languages or not, I just find it hard to call a commercial proudly featuring "America the Beautiful," and ending with a tagline of "America is Beautiful," anti-American.
I think there are many FReepers who could benefit from some world travel. :)
They could have sang We Are The World and nobody would have been offended.
