for me, the highlight of the entire Superbowl was the singing of the National Anthem... spectacularly done... best i can remember!

I agree. Finally some class singing the National Anthem.

I seriously started to cry. I hear the NA and think of what our founding fathers went through and the great nation they formed. And now...we are rapidly diving into the slop of depravity. My heart breaks from what we once were, to where we are now, to where we are going, barring a miracle.

Agreed but will argue that Tom Sullivan, who is blind, SB X was my favorite.
Note that at the following link SB XI, it was “America The Beautiful” not the National anthem.
X - Tom Sullivan (1976)
XI - Vicki Carr (America the Beautiful) (1977)
Also, XXXV - Backstreet Boys (Signed by Tom Cooney)
“America The Beautiful” performed by Ray Charles (2001)
All SB songs and performers are shown@ link!

Have a great day.

I had the same reaction as your. Renee Fleming sang the lyrics as if she knew the history of War of 1812. That does not happen often.

Here for your enjoyment one last time is Renee Fleming singing our National Anthem at Super Bowl 48.. (Hopefully the link works.)
