FSU 2013-14 the best college football team of all time?
Vanity | Vanity

Is the FSU 2013-14 team the best college football team of all time? Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, Miami, and even the Florida Gaytors have all fielded excellent teams. But which is the BEST of all time? One person I know insists it is this year's FSU team. But, what say YOU?

Seriously. They played a 3rd rate schedule and were down to a mediocre Auburn team for team for 3 quarters. Who self destructed. Nebraska 71, Oklahoma with the Selmons, Miami with Vinnie, Texas with Vince Young, Alabama 3 of last 4 years................not even close

Impossible to say.

I remember Pittsburgh seemed unbeatable for a while. Miami, Florida and FSU all had great ones.

Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, Notre Dame during the Parsegian years, Texas, Auburn the list just goes on and on.

Not even close. There are several teams who didn’t win the national title who I believe could have beaten this FSU team. I’m not even sure that this year’s FSU team is the best FSU team of all-time.

The 2012 Crimson Tide might have a better case. The 2013 Seminoles faced a very weak schedule and didn't even look like the best team in the Rose Bowl stadium for much of the title game.

1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Period.

Nebraska 62, Florida 24.

Yep. And the game wasn't even that close.

IIRC, Nebraska had 524 rushing yards. Florida had -28.

Way back in the middle '80s, I went to GA Southern, and one of the few away games our band got to go to was Florida State. Yes, their football team won, but our two bands had a big ol' party after the game. Made a lot of friends.

So I say Go 'Noles. And Go Eagles, for that matter.

Another reason to like GA Southern: The Hugo Bowl. I was there:

1995 Nebraska. They could have easily hung 75+ on Florida in the title game (the starters were all out midway through the 4th quarter) and Florida was 12-0 and played a tough schedule. That Nebraska team was otherworldly and mean.

1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, destroying #2 Florida 62-14. Tommie Frazier’s 75yd TD run, one of the best highlights ever.

I agree...Nobody was ever going to beat that team.

The Gators are still trying to tackle Tommie.

What’s funny is that Tommie’s brother wound up playing for UF.

That’s right, he did. That game was ridiculous. Truthfully though, that Florida team was as good—if not better—than some of the champions from 2000-2010. I think 1995 Florida was actually a better team than the one next year that won it.

I don’t want to take anything away from anyone who has won it though. Every team was good in their own right, but some were clearly better than others. 2001 Miami was excellent as well and very difficult to play with if they were hitting on all cylinders.

Since the game, it has been revealed that Auburn, using inside information, was stealing the FSU signals. After realizing what was going on, sheets were utilized to obscure the signals being sent into the FSU huddle. The final scoring from that point on was, 31-10, FSU.

Now you know the rest of the story.

2001 Miami or the 1995 Cornhuskers. Tons of NFL talent on those teams.

IIRC, that 95 Nebraska team was just about to score again from inside the five with the third and fourth stringers and they just killed the ball.

Bud Wilkinson’s mid-50s Oklahoma team might have been pretty OK when winning 47 straight.

The 71 Big 8 Conference was exceptionally dominant with Nebraska, OU, Colorado,Iowa State going I think 11-0;10-1;9-2;8-3 respectively.
