Nope, other way around. S&S was the spin-off. There was an ep of Magnum which “featured” the Simons.

Actually neither was a spin-off of the other. They ran back-to-back on Thursday nights for a time, which gave Simon a big ratings boost.

The story in the Magnum crossover episode continued in the following Simon episode, with John Hillerman (Higgins) as the guest star.

Well, techincally it was crossed over for ratings after putting on after Magnum. I’m getting old and finally looked it up! lol
