I think they’re still thawing out. Maybe on a beach with Algore.
If the ship couldn’t get through the ice, surely a helicopter could land on it. Disembark, board the helo, and come back for the ships later. It’s not like anybody is going to have the resources to steal the boats or any other equipment.
