Feb 2: 6350pm EST - TV Fox. Seattle at Denver (-1) O/U 47 1/2: Cold. In the upper teens and low 20s with a chance of snow.
......Denver is in Colorado, the most liberal state in the union, if not the universe.
Goofy statement. We’re not as Progressive as Calif. or Mass. or NY or others.....yet.
You’re hilarious, like that guy in Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail who gets all his limbs cut off and continues trying to fight...
This Super Bowl will be real Football played outdoors, in the elements, the fans on grass as G-d intended ....
John Madden agrees. LOL
I confess I’m surprised at the level of animosity I’m seeing against the Seahawks. I guess I need to get out more.
It was foggy today and a little on the cold side. It felt damp and oppressive, but that’s normal out here.
None of the others have legalized pot.
You’re right. They just smoke it anyway.
“Seattle won by 6, but only because of 3 big errors by Kapernick in the 4th quarter”
That’s what the BEST DEFENSE in the NFL does to teams, and Peyton Manning has not seen the likes of Seattle’s defense anywhere in the AFC. They play real football in the NFC. Go ahead and pencil in 150 yards for Marshawn Lynch. For Denver to beat Seattle Manning will have to throw on each and every down because Seattle defense will manhandle their running game. And the more Manning throws the more chances the PASS DEFENSE in the NFL will get. Should be a good game. My pick is Seattle.
Being Seattle sports fans we're not used to winning. Other fanbases poke fun at us for this reason, in fact, as though you're somehow less of a human being unless you're a bandwagon fan that only roots for the "hot" team.
I read an article recently about how sports fandom is like a drug with a similar addicition mechanism. The more a fan's team wins the nastier he gets (just look at some of the comments on this thread by fans of winning teams).
Take it in stride and remember it's just sports, a way to share vicariously in the glory of the Olympiads of our age...
And GO HAWKS! :-)
Saw Sherman’s second interview at the podium, I guess the Valium kicked in, much more subdued, kept on talking about Crabtree being “Mediocre” alrighty then..the reporter on Sportscenter kept on saying how Sherman is “Educated” Oh really he could have fooled me
So, what countrys team will be this years World Champions?
I do not remember the team or the manager but when the manager was questioned about the viability of the ‘world champions’ after they had won the ‘world series’, he replied, “I do not know why we can’t be called world champions. We beat everybody who showed up!” ;-)
The defense has played a larger role because of the absence of Percy Harvin, a hot playmaker (who should be good to go for the SB).
The Seahawks are not a "pretty" team nor a "stats" team. They just find ways to win as they did today.
Pete Carroll runs a fun work environment, letting the players be themselves and have fun. Performance dictates started. The team is loaded with depth. Browner gets naughty with drugs? No problem. Per Sherman, "We're the Seattle Seahawks. We're going to the Superbowl. If you want to do that stuff that's fine but you won't be going with us."
We've gone a long time (35 years in fact) without a championship in any pro sport whatsoever (unless you count Women's Basketball, which I really don't). The Seahawks as an organization are trying to build a dynasty - a place where free agents want to come to play.
They'll be hated; I tend to hate dynasty teams like the Patriots and the 49ers. Part of it is, I have to be honest, jealousy. It's always "other peoples" teams that win, never ours in any sport. By extension, I empathize with (and even root for the teams of) fans of other cities like Cleveland and Detroit.
But at the end of the day, it's just sports, just an opportunity to live vicariously through the Olympiads of our age, though ever so briefly. It's a source of identity.
It does feel very, very good, though, to have my team going to the big dance, a source of pride - one I hope every fan would strive how to use graciously.
I like Peyton Manning, despite him going to Tennessee. I want to see him go out on top.
Seattlites are pretty mild-mannered for the most part.
If you seriously think Colorado is the most liberal state in the Union, even more so than New York, California, or Massachusetts, then you really need to come out from under that rock now and then. There are a couple of lib counties in CO, largely because some of the smarter Californians jumped ship early on and ended up there, but the state overall is basically conservative.
Interesting that Pyramid Ale House decided to close after the game ended. Everyone is now out in the streets, but behaving.
That was just good defense. Seattle looks very tough.
We're very proud of our Hawks; I think if people want to use that as an excuse to hate them they would hate the Hawks anyways and just want a way to rationalize it.
I guess people hate you when you win... Wouldn't know - this is pretty new; Seattle sports fan here! :-)
We’re a pretty milquetoast lot, Northwesterners.
That’s true. We haven’t won a championship since the Sonics won way back when. We don’t know how to do it properly.
