I was clicking through some links on Wikipedia last night, and stumbled across the "List of One-hit Wonders" in the United States." Amazingly, they have separate, detailed individual lists for each decade ( I've posted the links below..)I was astonished at how many there were, how many I'd liked, and many I'd pretty much forgotten; and I spent several hours on YouTube, reminiscing, and then downloading some of the tunes. So, enjoy.. if you have a favorite, opine below...
from 1989,
I do not believe “what I am” by Eddie Brikell and the New Bohemians is a 1 hit wonder.
from wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edie_Brickell_%26_New_Bohemians
they list 5 songs in the top 100.
Furthermore, my favorite is “LOVE LIKE WE DO”
and I think it was a bigger hit than “what I am”

My first memory of it is circa '74. Poco had "Putin' on the Ritz" and "Vehicle" was also making the rounds on the radio.
Pink Floyd still rocks for me. Beatles are classics for the long haul. A little bit of Zappa, Hendrix, and Cocker added in and I'm reliving my young adulthood.
I think Amy Holland’s “how do I survive” should be on the list except that she had one other “hit” that made it to number 88.
Wiki also says her parents were opera singers and she is a long time wife of Michael McDonald of the doobie brothers (the later years, think “minute by minute”, not “china grove”)
from wiki:
“How Do I Survive”, which peaked at #22 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.[3] She was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1981. A second album called On Your Every Word followed in 1983, featuring the single “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing”/”You’re All I Need to Get By” with Chris Christian, which peaked at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Angel Baby - Rosie and the Originals...1962
This the very definition of a “one hit wonder”. lol

Actually, she had 3 other singles that were rated higher than a some of the "one hit wonders" that show up on these lists which makes her at the least a "4 hit wonder". That along with 2 Gold albums is probably worth crowing about.
I’d go with the Chambers Brothers and ‘Time Has Come Today’.
Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs did the do anything but Wooley Bully?
Modern English - I melt with you

“Hey There Little Red Riding Hood”
4 Jacks and a Jill
Master Jack was their one hit wonder in the States.

I think they remained popular in South Africa for quite some time but only know here for Master Jack.
“Believe It or Not,” Joey Scarbury (theme from “The Greatest American Hero”)
Yes! Sam the Sham did “I’da Wrote You a Letter but I Couldn’t Spell `PBBBBLLLTTT’!!!”
Anyway, no one’s mentioned my fave OHW, “Reunited” by Peaches & Herb.
