And that's not counting the pre-audition Twinkie(s) :)
About Paisley van Patten, the Cher impersonator..the recovering alcoholic (and kudos to her for getting her life back)..I thoguht the AI rules were that if you ever had a recording contract you were INELIGIBLE..IOW: NO Professionals..it's an AMATEUR show
Is Obama now the executive producer for AI?
BTW..if someone on the show has a twisted sense of humor, they'll have her room with...yup..Tequila..in Hollywood..if that doesn't cause her to fall of the wagon..she's CURED..
Samantha Calmes..who did the Jeffersons theme..if they decide to make another biopic about Janis Joplin..she'd be perfect..
Which got me thinking...?
I went to school at NYU..Washington Square Park.. in the early 60's and Greenwich Village back then was an incredible scene. I managed to survive..LOL.. All the little bars and coffee houses, and an incredible music scene every night. I saw, among many others..Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin when they were just getting started...so here's the question:
If Dylan and Joplin auditioned for AI..would they make it?
Here's an early Dylan clip "Blowing In The Wind (1963)" which looks strangely like an AI audition
And here's an early Joplin cut ( NO videos exist..so just listen)
She was a primal force on stage..I caught her once at Rocky's..on West 4th..what a dump..but they all were..she knocked off a QUART of Southern Comfort during a one hour set..
I also caught Judy Collins ( the most beautiful voice ever...) and Joan Baez...you knew they both were gonna make it big..
