Heh. They want to solve problems. What they don't want is for a man to suggest or offer a solution. Yeah, it's a massive adaptation for most men, I think. Unlike work, where when a problem lands on your lap (or somebody seeks "advice" on resolving a business issue), you have to fix it. At home, it is better to use, "I don't know, what do you think? Uh huh. Uh huh."
Exception being the simple and straightforward observations (that are really orders) like "the trash is piling up" or "the car doesn't work."
