Beagles are programmed to become obese. Ours never turned down anything and provided himself with as many bunnies as he could catch. He was not too proud to go through garbage, either. We never had another dog so fixated on food.
Don’t think he was this smart, though.
Our entire pack disappears for a day or two when someone field dresses a deer. They come back with full bellies (sometimes dragging a leg or two ) and spend a couple days sleeping it off
This explains a lot about our dog. Ginger has to have Beagle in her. We finally got trash cans with self closing lids everywhere in the house. There isn’t anything safe if left out. She did climb up on our counter to eat my asthma meds that were sealed in blister packs.
We feed her twice a day. She was acting like she hasn’t been feed to me on evening. So I feed her. She inhales all of it. Turns out my husband had just feed her 10 minutes previously.
