She asked why am I staring at her?
Her back story is that her father and 3 uncles were German army officers who survived WWI and WWII and her father made it to the Russian Caucuses and back.
Sounds like a family with a lot of stories to tell
My wife grew up in England and uses a knife and fork to eat pizza. Her father made a trip to the U.S. one time, and went out west with her and her first husband. In a restaurant in some western city, they stopped to have a meal. Her father had never eaten a hamburger before, so he ordered one. He ate it with a knife and fork. My wife said the looks on the faces of the people at nearby tables were priceless. But since he was foreigner, I guess he could be excused.
Why does everyone have to apologize for their German connections?
One of my favorite movies, Das Boot has a great scene in it where a few of the officers are sitting around their table eating, and the political officer is eating his food (fish, as I recall) with a fork and knife with such delicacy and good breeding that was obviously out of place on a U-Boat.
The other officers are just watching him, and he is oblivious...:)
“(I was 17 she was 22) “
Been there, done that. :-)!!!!
