Our only house fire was due candles... Years ago as a youth, mom lit some candles and forgot to blow them out at bedtime. She had decorated the living room with those ornate plastic grapes around the hearth of the fireplace and the candle burned down to them (next to the candle) and set them on fire. Fortunately one of us got up to use the restroom and with some screaming we were putting out the fire (before the smoke detector went off too). $12,000 dollars later in fire insurance (month time), we were good as new.
Another 3-5 minutes with no warning and we might of died that night.
