You need more than one. I’ve got several programs and they each find different dangerous items. Definitely Avast for virus protection and removal - lowest carbon footprint of such programs on your machine (I mean memory occupied.) SUPERAntiSpyware, and Spybot, at a minimum for malware. Others are Glary Utilities, Wise Registry Cleaner, IOBIT Malware Fighter, Advanced System Utilities, all of them highly rated by various editors and users. And free.

One note: don’t use CNET’s download.com come as your source, it wraps the programs into their own spyware giving, junk loading downloader. majorgeeks.com is an excellent source of freeware.

great point about CNET, but since I use Linux their add-on’s are kind of pointless.

Thanks for making note of C-Net at download.com is a major source of the worst sort of malware.

As 'Obi Won' would say, a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
