Would they really go back and negate it? He should have played a little in the second half.

They adjust stats (on Tuesday I think) pretty much every week. The record and those involved make this an interesting case. Peyton and Drew are both prominent in the NFL brand. Both squeaky clean, high achievers and represent the league well. If I had to hazard a guess, I think they will leave this alone. I can't think Goodell would relish the idea of explaining taking this record away to either Peyton or Archie.

Eight 5000+ yard passing seasons so far in the NFL. Four of them owned by one quarterback. And yet, the most impressive one to earn that mark no longer plays, and did it with fewer games.

Manning is also long in the tooth at 37 years old, 5 years older then when Brees set the record at age 32.

Sometimes it's more noteworthy to be the subject of controversy rather than the holder of a record.

Brings to mind ex-Tiger Armando Galarraga who "ALMOST" threw a perfect game back on 6/3/2010 but was screwed out of it by a bad call from the 1st base umpire.......Without that controversy he'd be just another pitcher who happened to throw a no hitter.....
