it looked forward to me because his back would be turned if it was backwards. I have no idea what you mean by "his back would be turned if" - but that's not relevant. The ball was caught almost 2 full yards behind where it left Peyton's hand. It was not anywhere close to a forward pass.

It’s still counted in the yards as a pass. A pass is not measured by how far the QB throws it, it’s measured by how far the receiver runs before being tackled or running out of bounds or fumbling.
