What's your favorite brand of eggnog? I'm looking for a new one.
Every year about this time I go pick up a couple half gallons of Original Recipe Alta Dena Eggnog. Well, I missed out last year, the stores stopped carrying it immediately after Christmas.
Yesterday I went on their website and looked for it, and saw it's been replaced by their "Holiday" Eggnog.
First ingredient is non fat milk, so I emailed them asking if they had just relabeled it, or if they had discontinued the original.
They were kind enough to get back to me with this:
"Both our Marketing and Research & Development teams at Dean Foods® are continually reviewing our flavor, packaging, and advertising offerings. At any given time, new concepts are being developed, and consumer focus groups are testing them. We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy our products."
So, hoping for the best, I went out and picked up a couple quarts of the Holiday flavor. It was like water. Mrs. JohnnyP took a few sips and said "It's not worth the calories" and dumped her glass. I was fuming, but had paid good money, so I suffered through a couple glasses before dumping it ALL down the drain.
I took advantage to send them this feedback. He he. :)
"Please bring back the "Original Recipe" Eggnog. It was thick, creamy, and decadent. High in calories but worth it once a year.
My wife and I just tried the "Holiday" flavor and are very disappointed. It's like cheap Safeway or other low cost eggnog.
My wife took a couple sips of it and said it's not worth the calories. I drank a couple glasses of it then poured the rest down the drain in disgust.
Hope you do better next year.
Thanks very much for listening."
Last year I ended up with Southern Comfort brand eggnog, which was very good. Might be my new favorite.
Ok, I gave up looking for Brougiere’s in the stores so we are driving to their store tomorrow to pick up a few quarts.
Okay, so what about the preferred whiskey? Single malt? Bourbon?
When I drank whiskey... blended Canadian (like VO) or Irish Whiskey like Jameson’s.
