First lady Michelle Obama had all eyes on her Sunday during the Kennedy Center Honors where the achievements of singer Billy Joel, actress Shirley MacLaine and others were acknowledged.
The first lady manages to look absolutely stunning in pieces by J. Crew, so it was no surprise that she looked flawless in a flowing emerald green Marchesa gown.
While the bodice of the dress is similar to gowns she has worn in the past, the intricate draping details on her arms gave it an elegant flair. The arm drape also showed off the first ladys exceptionally toned biceps as she held hands with President Barack Obama.
The first lady kept the accessories to a minimum, which was a wise fashion choice considering the dress was a stand-out all on its own.
As for her hair, the first lady sported large face-framing curls and allowed her simple neckwear to shine.

OMG, hideous.
Cue the Carol Burnett drapery photo ..
The bodice is the top part of a dress.
As to this one, I don’t really like it. It’s the kind of thing that the rare person could make look stunning, Michele Obama isn’t one of those gals. (Neither am I, so heaven help me if I ever had to be in the public eye.) And I think it really needs a super necklace, like a huge rock, to go with it.
And I have an aversion to that shade of green, I’m allergic to it or something. I literally can’t wear anything that shade no matter what material it’s made of. The color is good for Mrs. O, I will say that.
You mean the caboose that's big enough to turn a Clydesdale's head?
It’s the top of the dress, front and back, minus the sleeves.
It’s a very pretty color, but that design had to be very annoying to wear all night. You can’t reach your arms out without pulling on the material.
And she’s no fitness guru. Some women are naturally toned on top. So she lifts for a week before the big event. Woohoo.
You do if you want to know why those ladies' romantic novels are called "bodice rippers."
That older daughter has certainly gotten a lot taller since I last saw a photo of her.
The one thing I really can admire about the O’s is that they mainly keep those girls out of the spotlight.
Remember how often we were treated to poor little Amy Carter?

“She probably BLOCKED the spotlight with her giant caboose.”
My thought too.
You repeat yourself......cut it out!
Jus' keepin' it real...
“Michelle O can be very attractive sometimes I don;t like it when the left comments on someones looks.. we should not do that here either”
You certainly deserve credit for being charitable to a fault.
However, it is undeniable that if you happened upon this woman on a dark alley, regardless of how many make-up people have labored on her, you’re going to be scared out of several hours of sleep.
What they did with those things hanging down her arms spoils the dress. It had the potential of being lovely.
If those swoops over the arms had been some kind of top, I think it would have looked pretty nice. The color, surprisingly, is a good choice.
on someone else
Laura Bush was such a lovely woman. GWBush I have issues with, but Laura had so much class. I miss that.
The dress is not too bad and she has a new ‘weave”. I guess we paid for it. I am wearing my same ole same ole to my next shindig.
