In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

slumgullion \sluhm-GUHL-yuhn, SLUHM-guhl-\, noun
1. a stew of meat, vegetables, potatoes, etc.
2. a beverage made weak or thin, as watery tea, coffee, or the like.
3. the refuse from processing whale carcasses.
4. a reddish, muddy deposit in mining sluices.

Example sentences:
"...d'yever eat good old fashioned slumgullion boy, 'taint nothin but scrambled eggs and potatoes all scrambled up together."
-- Jack Kerouac, The Dharma Bums, 1958

We could not eat the bread or the meat, nor drink the "slumgullion."
-- Mark Twain, Roughing It, 1872

Etymology:
Slumgullion is an Americanism dating back to the 1840s. It is perhaps related to the word cullion, which comes from the Latin term meaning "bag" or "testicle."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

50 sucks in LA, you never expect it.

I gut stuck 20 miles away, and the temp dropped, and I had to ride the 5 freeway to get home,

Thought I would die of frostbite lol.

50 at 70+ is freaking cold,

Hey, public TV has been showing Joe Bonamassa at the Beacon the last 2 nights. Very good show, especially since John Hiatt was a guest.

Yes, there was a whole lot of that going on. They are still running the tired old line that they have programming you can’t find anywhere else. Not the least bit true since cable.

That article is grotesque, and the author os an idiot.

He holds up JPII , while crticisizing V2, which JPII participated in, and endorsed,

Jftr, I disagree with V2, but I did not write the article.

And..he unwittingly makes almost every point I’ e made in this weeks ,ong discussion with XS.

He’s taming the media, which has been the most virulent aggressor against the church. He admits it, but cant see the forest for the trees.

Moron.

This isn’t religion, it’s politics, plain and simple.

P.s. The theological”consultant’ to V2, was Cardinal Ratzinger.

So, the two Popes he holds as examples. Were prime movers in V2, which he holds as an example of what not to do.

Can anyone say fact check, or research.

And. As I pointed out...his early papacy has been about shutting down its loudest critic. The MSM.

And the author, admits it, and can’t see it,

After listening to both sides, I think everyone is hearing what they want to hear. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

No, the healthy, that need no physicians’ are hearing what they want, and getting irked.

The guys own article, says what i’ve been saying.

He’s shutting the MSM up.

What’s amusing, is it is patently obvious.

He always makes sure to use lefty buzz words, in chapter 2 of the document posted yesterday, he uses “trickle down” to get quoted, but he is actually extolling the parable of the farmer that gathered workers 3 times in the day, but paid them equally , teaching genorosity.

I totally agree. It’s way too soon to judge. Hobbes lauds his brilliance in foiling the MSM.maybe it is brilliant, but without a cleansing of the mess currently INSIDE the church, it’s for naught. Evangelization is a worthy goal but not if all it does enlarge the CINO population inside the church.
