You forgot “ecology and green studies”.
I’ll bet we really excel in “Least amount of knowledge absorbed in a four year period, whether high school or college”.
I bet our kids are #1 in self esteem!
The Elephant in the Room is shaped like a Bell Curve.

We test everyone, Asian countries don’t.
Our science and math training is abysmal, but these studies are not valid for comparative purposes.
obviously not enough federal money, more regulation should solve this in no time.
Of course, this has nothing to do with all the illegals and obama sons.
The main reason for the difference in expenditure is the high pay required for highly skilled and educated workers in the U.S. and other high income countries. This is also what really underlies the high cost of health care.
This is a problem but, as problems go, this is a good problem to have to deal with.
Some ways to ameliorate the problem. Regarding the demand for highly-skilled and educated workers, we can:
(1) fight over-credentializing. Do primary school teachers need graduate degrees? Do lower-level professionals such as an assistant manager of a department store need a college degree? Do plumbers need a prep school education at H.S. or would a vocational education be more appropriate? Do people need Medical Doctors for their primary-care, or would Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners be sufficient?
(2) encourage home-schooling and self-education, and healthy living, and stop subsidizing schooling and health care so much.
(3) introduce choice and competition to the provision of social services.
Regarding the supply of highly-skilled and educated people, we can:
(1) restore the two-parent family, our children and our boys especially are being lost in shuffle.
(2) raise the standards, expectations and discipline of schooling.
(3) bring people who love math into the classroom. One of the primary purposes of landing a man on the moon was to encourage young people to pursue math and science.
From that chart, the Northeast is spending about 50% more than the rest of the nation. The Northeast is doing a brilliant job of educating the likes of the Boston Bombers, the Newtown shooter, the VA Tech shooter, the Navy Yard shooter, the Ft. Hood shooter, etc.
Do they put them in special schools? I think the same should be done here, (judging from the horror stories I hear from teachers I know.) But that opinion is so politically incorrect it just about causes swooning.
I don't think so, but they give them a different and appropriate curriculum.
In usa, all kids go for the same diploma. I suppose this may vary by state - but in Ga, every kid gets thru 4 years of math [Pre-calculus]- unless IEP since grade 8 has said kid only need three math classes. The SAME three as everyone. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
can add = can’t add.
The United States, meanwhile, ranks below the OECD average in every category.Don't worry, that will change quickly when EVEN MORE illiterate (in two languages) and innumerate illegals are trucked in, and Common Core continues the longterm demolition work on critical thinking and cause and effect.
