I find the people on this thread who are all worked up into a lather and fixated on this to be completely hilarious...they are the online equivalent of those people who call the sports radio stations with spittle coming out of their lips talking about how the powers that be in the league have the outcome decided in advance.

I would say, on the basis of this play which was a 20 yard run for a touchdown, that it might actually be the exact opposite...:)

There was a hole LITERALLY big enough to drive a pickup truck through, and while the Patriots run defense does suck, one might reasonably wonder how on earth that hole could have been so big.

When one watches the replay, there is an official standing in such a way (seen standing there before the camera moves) in such a way that Hightower is directly between him, the offensive lineman and the ball carrier.

One might reasonably think "My goodness, how DID there get a hole that big for the running back?"

Well, upon further review...

In this view below, one can easily see how that hole was so big, since the player whose likely responsibility it was to plug that hole was being firmly grasped with both hands in the direct line of sight of the official, who likely could not have failed to see the offensive lineman's hand obscuring the "5" on the back of Hightower's jersey before riding upwards to obscure part of his name so that it looked like he was named "Tower". On the traffic cone on the right side of this hole, the defensive lineman is being held by the shoulder pads. That is the way it is.

Now, my take on this is that the Pat's run defense sucks for a variety of reasons, but...my take on this was: Too bad, that is the way it goes sometimes. Hightower is a big boy and shouldn't have allowed that guy to hold him out of the hole. I put that on him...same for Jones on the other side.

But it does make people look foolish when they blather on about how the officials and the league have it in for any team playing against the Patriots.

If that is the kind of obvious help they are going to get (two cases of obvious holding on a big play in a close game both in the direct line of sight of the official) then I guess the Patriots might say "No thanks for your help!"

But hey, why let "facts" (as some posters call their spittle-lipped opinions) get in the way of a good conspiracy theory!

Thank you. Breath of fresh air. The knee jerk morons become very tedious.
