Mental image is of some squid like monster just outside the window holding Timmy in a tentacle or three while nibbling on him as he is held halfway through the window.
His mother berating him for harassing the poor neighbor all the while.

Lassie, ah, Lassie.
Always imagined that lassie led Timmy into danger in an effort to destroy him, lassie barking at his parents wasn’t a warning but instead bragging about it.
“Ha ha! Even as we speak, your progeny is having his face rearranged by a bear! Soon he will be destroyed!” Lassie barked, a slight German accent wafting into the brag.
“What is it, lassie? We have to save Timmy again? Let’s go save Timmy!” Lassie’s owners were oblivious, they raced off to rescue their son who would have been critter food ages ago were it not for his strange invulnerability.
“What?! No! Destroy! He’s being destroyed! You fools! Gaaah!” Lassie could but only follow.

So I’m not the only one who thought that. And that Marlin Perkins was a world-class Clymer who really hated animals (except for Dinner), which is why Jim was always the one battling the baboons and crocodiles.
