Actually, the person who doctored the receipt and stole the waitress' tip is the one they should be going after, most likely the manager of the restaurant.

Her deception was obvious when she contacted the media, and placed a doctored receipt on facebook.. The costumer had the Credit Card statement to prove the deception was post transaction..

Yes the full bill including tip was processed in order for the restaurant to get paid the full amount from the credit card company, but I'll wager the restaurant manager or owner substituted a duplicate receipt with the lifestyle note replacing the tip.

Only someone with authority for transaction processing would be able to generate a duplicate receipt, and wait staff are not typically given that authority. When you couple this with the fact the customer claims they were told their waiter's name was "Dan" by whoever seated them and you start to see that perhaps the ones with a problem with Dayna's lifestyle were actually her employers.
