It is slow paced, but there is a lot going on in that film. It is a film about ideas, where most sci fi today is about special effects. I think this is one of the most emotional scenes I have ever seen. The film takes a long time getting here, but when it does, all the emotion is earned.
I like the overall theme of a utopia gone bad, and a guy fighting to live his dream despite being told he can’t. I also like the guy that helps him at the end, who knew all along.
I am not sure why they chose gattaca for the name, but the letters do form the dna base pairs, at, gc, adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine.
maybe gattaca is a specific gene.
