Even though I personally would gag if I had to eat Spaghettios, why did the Gov dump his out the window and continue to eat his canned sardines or whatever they were? Also, was he trying to lead those gals to the prison, the road looked familiar and so did the “horde”?

I wonder if he didn’t want to develop an emotional attachment to them, at first - and eating their food represented that to him. Seemed like he had kind of lost his will to live there for a while.
