Doing genuine research finding certificates of life stages, references to people in muster rolls, etc, is wrought with fraud?

Lots of people simply hear they are descended from some royalty and run with it, spreading the lie, but that doesn’t mean finding legitimate primary sources is fraudulent.

doing genuine research is fraught with fraud because fraudsters leave artifacts to be found.

Rather like in WWII Germany tried to present the illusion that they were manufacturing 1400 tanks a month. After a few tanks were captured in North Africa, an analysis of serial numbers and analysis of casting marks gave insight as to the number that were really being made, about 275. This math problem is called in English “The German Tank Problem”.

Honest people can be taken in by fraud, in fact that is the point of fraud. Mules always claim their ancestors are horses, but the Donkey can be discovered, and DNA is one way to do that.
