I was thinking of trying the ancestry.com DNA test, now that the price has come down. Bad idea?

I was offered the opportunity to have it done for free. When I got the kit and read the agreement I saw that they retain the right to change the terms of the agreement after the fact and to use the gathered data without my consent in the future. Particularly in this NSA world, the last thing I want to do is to voluntarily share my DNA with anyone the government thinks should have it.

Even before the NSA, I would NEVER do the test. You'll be handing it over to the evil ones on a silver platter.

The National Geographic test will tell you about mitochondrial DNA AND whether you have Neanderthal genes. I was THRILLED to learn of my descent from the brow-endowed, for whom I have always had a soft spot in my heart.
