A Georgia police officer shot and killed a tiny Jack Russell Terrier that he claims threatened him during a routine probationary checkup on Monday.
The officer, Antoine Jones, is over six feet tall and weighs nearly 300 pounds. Patches, the dog he killed, weighs just 12 pounds, according to a local news channel.
Jones visited the Albany residence of Cherrie Shelton earlier this week to check on her son, who is serving probation. Upon Joness arrival, two-year-old Patches approached the officer and began barking. Shelton claims she told Jones that Patches was no threat, but the officer drew his weapon and shot the dog anyway.
After being shot, Patches fled and hid, eventually succumbing to her wounds.
According to Joness statement, Patches advanced toward him in a threatening manner even after receiving multiple verbal commands to get back.
But Shelton said this was not Joness first visit to the home, and the officer should have known that Patches was harmless.
Shelton buried Patches, and has plans to buy a cross to mark her grave. The dog is missed, she said.
Then why not post accurate information?
If police officers were not trained to perform such an unnecessary act in the first place, we would not be talking about such hypotheticals.
There may be situations where firing upon a vicious dog would be prudent, but we've been reading more and more of these stories over the last couple of years and the pattern is a very disturbing one.
You are abrasive and a disruptor. There’s nothing humorous about your behavior.
You know, I’ve seen this type off verbiage or expressions before...
Where do I know that from??? Was it someone else from Alaska...maybe the Yukon?
Hmmm..
That's how the shooting started at Ruby Ridge. Marshall shot the dog, kid shot the marshall, marshall shot the kid in the back.
Probably the dog had an air gun replica of an “assault weapon”.
Whether the officer is black is irrelevant in this case.
Whether the dog is alive is very relevant. But go ahead and try starting your flame wars. Its easier to hide the evidence than to face it.
So you back out the door / gate and politely ask the owner to lock the dog up in a bedroom or put them out in the back yard. Why is common sense so infuriatingly rare? If this country is doomed it is because we have lost not only our moral core but also critical thinking skills.
History shall repeat itself, and things will escalate from there all around the country, not just from a few isolated incidents, IMO.
I believe I'd remember someone like you if I had the misfortune of meeting you.
Since cops are no longer protecting us and helping to ensure our safety, and, instead, are the danger we fear, we should outlaw these outlaws.
It got pulled because of you. It shouldn’t have been pulled. You should have been tossed out of here.
They are being trained to shoot dogs at the slightest whim.
The question we should be asking is why are they being trained this way.
Look in the mirror. You're the one name calling and disrupting. If you don't like fair and accurate reporting, what are you doing here?
Not really irrelevant.
Both Calypso Louie and Gilani have been recruiting furiously in the black population, and it’s also jihad doctrine to place in where they can be armed and wield power.
The opportunity to kill dogs is a bonus. It will escalate to the opportunity to kill Jews and everyone else.
Of vulgar attacks by some posters. Were you among them?
Maybe I’m being too nostalgic but cops sure seem to be a lot sh*ttier now than they were when I was a kid. Or were they always this sh*tty but we just hear about it more because of the internet?
