A Georgia police officer shot and killed a tiny Jack Russell Terrier that he claims threatened him during a routine probationary checkup on Monday.
The officer, Antoine Jones, is over six feet tall and weighs nearly 300 pounds. Patches, the dog he killed, weighs just 12 pounds, according to a local news channel.
Jones visited the Albany residence of Cherrie Shelton earlier this week to check on her son, who is serving probation. Upon Joness arrival, two-year-old Patches approached the officer and began barking. Shelton claims she told Jones that Patches was no threat, but the officer drew his weapon and shot the dog anyway.
After being shot, Patches fled and hid, eventually succumbing to her wounds.
According to Joness statement, Patches advanced toward him in a threatening manner even after receiving multiple verbal commands to get back.
But Shelton said this was not Joness first visit to the home, and the officer should have known that Patches was harmless.
Shelton buried Patches, and has plans to buy a cross to mark her grave. The dog is missed, she said.
The article calls him a Georgia police officer.
What was post 39? Why would it cause the thread to be pulled?
Yep and the state of Georgia considers those in probation dept, to be peace officers. Peace officers are cops.
Your Post 39 was removed. The other thread has been removed. You tried to state that the probation officer was black, which we don’t know to be true, and that’s why he shot a little dog. Your assumptions are based on race.
Yup.
“They are being trained to shoot dogs at the slightest whim.
The question we should be asking is why are they being trained this way.”
I really wonder if it is truly happening more or if it is just being reported more.
There is a certain percentage of people that are scared of any dog, 12 pounds or 120 pounds. Some are, by averages, cops. It is just they have a way to enforce it where as the plumber does not.
I have dealt with dogs thousands of times during EMS/emergency calls and have yet to get bitten. I fully believe that animals sense fear. Most dogs understand “git” whether they have ever heard it or not. And yes, it does get annoying trying to hear what someone said for the 5th time amongst the barking. So be it.
Good question...lol
You’d think the mailmen would leave a wake of dead dogs behind them.
How do they ever survive?
You'd never know it according to some posts like this.
Well, what did you do yesterday? You started a flame war. Today you whined about the thread having been pulled once already. Sounded rather upset that it is posted again. Aaaand, you keep complaining and plaguing people.

It wasn't a cop that shot the dog, it was a probation officer. You really should read the articles.
“Maybe he was just jealous of the dogs energy and ability to move.”
At 300 lbs he had to engage it at a safe distance, lest it get lost in the shadow of his belly where he couldn’t see it.
It needs a JR enforced 'time out'.
It's not even a particularly good troll.
Absolutely agree!
Who posted this??????????? I didn't! I'm still waiting for you to post the "name calling" that you accused me of.
Officer Shoots 12-Pound Dog Claiming It Threatened His Life www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3089777/posts?page=54 3 days ago - A six-foot-tall, nearly 300-pound probation officer Antoine Jones shot ... Georgia probation officers Ronnie Simmons and Antoine Jones ... If you have a dog and you see a black person approaching your door, hide the dog.
To them, if one does not like crooked cops, one does not like for cops to beat the hell out of innocent people. If one has a problem with the police being able to commit felony crimes with impunity such as the shooting of the former Marine in his own home, etal. I could go on and on and on. But, to them, the bottom line is that if you wish the police to live under the same laws they enforce, then, you are a cop hater.
You state many things but never provide any proof to back it. Sorry, you are guilty.
