Correct me if I’m wrong, but the video started with the truck stopped at a red light. He didn’t start being a fool until the cops put on their sirens. When he started to run, if the cops had quit chasing him I’m sure things would have turned out differently. He wasn’t armed and dangerous, holding a hostage or having just murdered someone. A stolen vehicle wasn’t worth endangering lives. They knew who he was and where to find him. They could have arrested him later.

” He didn’t start being a fool until the cops put on their sirens”

And that is the start of a chase?? Really? That is what you are supposed to do when hearing sirens and seeing lights? Run off at high speed?

I believe the law says to pull over and stop. You should read the driver’s ed manual sometime.

How is it that cops’ fault for someone starting a chase? Again, the cops are in behind and can’t start a chase. Only the criminal in the lead can start a chase.

If you are stupid enough to start a vehicle chase then you are endangering others using a vehicle and it should be considered a serious crime. The cops should weigh if they need to chase you and determine the likelihood of you stopping your dangerous activity and finding you later. If you are believed to be a danger to others and the likelihood of you not stopping that behavior is high then they have a responsibility to me and everyone else to stop you by any means necessary.

I believe in most chases not being engaged as the perp isn’t going anywhere in most cases. However, if you are engaged in a dangerous activity without any external influence then they need to stop you.

That kid ran off. Fine. Give him a head start and see if he stops speeding through lights. If he doesn’t, then have another unit intercept him.

Imagine someone getting killed by a high speed driver blowing through stoplights and the cops did not attempt to intervene. People like you would be crying the cops are lazy and not doing their jobs, and suing them for it.
